Microfluidic Device Design & Manufacture

Project type

Engineering

Date

2009

Location

Durham. NH

As an undergraduate researcher in the UNH Chemical Engineering department, I designed a PDMS microfluidic chip for single-cell immunofluorescence assays. The chip contained thousands of micro-scale wells designed to hold individual mammalian cells and oriented in such a way that the observer could recognize the well coordinates under the microscope. I developed the 3D CAD files and coordinated production with a local manufacturer ands tested the first production batch of chips.
